- The mandate of the KVK is to bridge the gap between agricultural research and its practical application by farmers. The KVK functions as Knowledge and Resource Centres for agricultural technology at the district level, aiming to improve the agricultural economy and the socio-economic conditions of the farming community.
- 1.On-Farm Testing (OFT): Conducting trials on farmers' fields to evaluate and refine agricultural technologies for their suitability and location specificity under various farming systems. This helps in identifying the most appropriate technologies for the local context.

FLDs are conducted under the close supervision of KVK scientists, targeting both farmers and extension workers.
